What I've Been Watching & Listening To Lately

It's felt like absolutely ages since I've sat down and just chatted about all the things I've been watching, which is one of my favourite things to do. Along with discovering new TV shows, I love when I come across a good podcast. Podcasts have been the thing of late and I seriously can't get enough of them, especially of the true crime genre. So without further ado, here are the TV shows and podcasts I have loved over the past few months that I really recommend you watch and listen to.

A Series of Unfortunate Events
Season three of this show came out around New Years and although it took me a couple of weeks to get round to watching it, I completely devoured all the episodes. There is something so cosy and comforting about this show, I love the actors, and all the sets are amazing. I particularly loved the third season but sad it's over now! I actually never read the books but loved the programme regardless.

Derry Girls
This is a very short watch but an enjoyable one nonetheless. Set in the '90s in Northern Ireland, this sitcom follows a group of girls in high school during The Troubles in Derry. It's genuinely really funny and something you can put on one quiet afternoon and finish in one go. Apparently there will be a second season too, so it's definitely worth watching now before anything new comes out.

The Nanny
I have been binge-watching The Nanny for the past few months and it's rapidly become my comfort programme to put on in the evenings after work! When I went to Hawaii a few years ago I used to watch it every night when it was on TV there, but I'm now watching all six seasons from the beginning. I bloody love Fran's outfits and if I was confident enough that's how I'd want to dress (lol!)

Would I Lie To You
Not a work of art by any means, but a panel show that I've been obsessed with. You can find random episodes on YouTube which is where I've been watching it from, and believe me when I say this show is the perfect way to cheer yourself up and just have a laugh. I love programmes similar to this like The Big Fat Quiz of Everything, but have never really watched a lot of Would I Lie to You until now.

FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened
I knew nothing about this before watching but decided to give it a go after a few people had been talking about it. This is a really interesting documentary about what was meant to be a luxury music festival in the Bahamas but the reality was very different, resulting in the co-founder being convicted of fraud. The documentary looks at what went wrong and how it came to be such an infamous disaster. Pretty different but so fascinating!

My Favourite Murder
I'm sure you've heard of this podcast, I mean it's practically one of the top murder podcasts out there. I only discovered it last year but I'm now hooked. There are so many episodes available if you've never listened to any, so there is plenty of content to get into. Combining true crime and comedy, it's so fascinating to hear about a range of well-known and more unheard-of murder cases while it not being too heavy or dramatic. The hosts are always sensitive when talking about the different cases, too.

Death in Ice Valley
I've been listening to a fair few murder podcasts but this is definitely the one I would recommend above all. Although the story is told relatively slowly, it's so well produced and well worth a listen. In summary, the podcast is an unidentified woman called the 'Isdal Woman' who was found dead in a valley in Norway in the year 1970. It's so interesting especially if you've heard nothing about the case which I hadn't.

A special mention to Sex Education on Netflix which I love so far but have only managed to find time to watch the first episode.

What shows and podcasts have you been listening to lately?

  3. Oh, yes!!! I've been looking for more podcasts to listen to so I'll be adding these to my list. I've been meaning to watch Sex Education and Fyre as well, so I guess I have to add them to my Netflix cue! I love heaps of creative/soul podcasts at the moment, so I've been listening to Jenna Kutcher's podcast and one called 'Soul in The Raw' - both are amazing. Thank you for your recommendations :)
