YA feminism, cynical fashion, silky soft hair... what's not to love?
Even though those three things have nothing in common what so ever, I've rounded up a few bits and bobs to talk about today which I call my August favourites.
How Hard Can Love Be? by Holly Bourne
Let's start off with a book that combines two of my favourite things. Young adult literature and feminism.. it's a dream come true and that's all thanks to the wonderful Holly Bourne. I feel like there has been and there will be a lot of professed love for this author on this blog. How Hard Can Love Be? combines the magicalness of a good guilty pleasure romance and just a bit (quite a good amount, actually) of feminism that is easy to grasp and would be great for anyone young first learning about it. This story follows Amber as she treks off (takes a plane ride) to America for the summer and works at a summer camp while visiting her Mum. There's a lot of important stuff in here about family and alcoholism, as well as finding love (if it isn't too hard to tell from the title). All in all I recommend you read this book which is #2 of Holly Bourne's Spinster Club series.
Denim + Stay Home Club Pin
Whether it's been this ripped oversized jacket or my mom jeans, I can't get enough of denim right now. Add enamel pins and patches into the mix and you've got all sorts of good stuff going on. My current fave is this 'Relatively Stable' pin which describes me to a T. I need to make a note to buy more pins (there's already one on it's way to me in the mail) and patches to adorn all my denim items. I am loving the embroidered denim trend too, anyone with me here? Stay Home Club have a lovely selection of pins + patches so check them out if you're looking for some. I promise I'm not sponsored by them..
L'Oreal Brow Artist Genius Kit*
Lately I've been pretty lazy with my make-up, because let's face it, sometimes I really don't want to put on a full face of make-up at 7 am. I've been back to using this brow kit which I've had in my stash for a while. I've gone back to this on those early mornings purely because it's quicker than my faithful Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. I essentially just like to use the powder and quickly fill in the more sparse parts of my brows with the little brush it comes with. I'm not too fussed, and this works perfect at darkening things so I don't have to go all bare-browed on my days in the office..
OGX Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner
Ever since I tried this heavenly conditioner I've been meaning to repurchase because it's most definitely my favourite hair product. I find that this perfectly smoothes and hydrates my hair, leaving it all soft and manageable. I'd highly recommend you try this if you're not happy with your current hair care routine. It also doesn't hurt that this smells so delicious.
And just like that it's already September!
