Mid Semester Break Goals

Things I want to do now my Uni break has finally come around...

Read my magazines
For the most part of the year I haven't made time to read the two magazines I buy frequently... Frankie and Yen. I'm talking three or four issues of each magazine that I haven't got round to reading. When I finish the ones I already have, I need to make some sort of vow to keep up with reading issue by issue. I always seem to make time to read a book, but for some reason these have just been taking up space in my bookshelf unread.

Read four books
...or more? I've actually been quite good and haven't acquired too many new books recently but I want to finish off a few that I've been meaning to for a little while. First we have It's Not Me, It's You by Mhairi McFarlane which my sister has already stolen and it got two big thumbs up from her. I love McFarlane's writing so I expect this will be a real treat to delve in to.

The Memory Book by Lara Avery is something I requested from Hachette a little while ago and haven't got round to reading yet. I've barely started this one but I have seen a bit of buzz about this in the YA book community. As far as I know, The Memory Book follows the life of Samantha and the experiences she doesn't want to forget, as she starts loosing her memory.

A book I've started on already is So Sad Today by Melissa Broder. Not gonna lie - I mainly bought it for the amazing cover, but it actually does sound intriguing and Kate from Lillytales raved about this so it's not all about the aesthetics. I'm increasingly loving memoirs and non fiction as hearing from different people's perspectives is really interesting - this deals with some hefty topics from my understanding.

The last book is a short one and I picked this up on a whim a few months ago. It's The Baby by Lisa Drakeford and it's about teenage pregnancy. It follows a group of friends and includes multiple perspectives - I really love the cover of this and it's a super short read.

Sort out my room
For a while I've been needing to get a new desk and sort some bits and bobs out in my bedroom. Recently I bought a new desk so now that's one thing ticked off the list, I need to clean out my wardrobe and sort out old school books and things.. where does everyone put all that stuff they don't need anymore? I don't know what I should or shouldn't throw out. For extra stuff for my room, another trip to Kmart isn't such a bad idea.

I know other people reading may not have a uni break now, but do you have any goals you want to achieve soon?

  1. I always catch up on my magazines when I'm on my uni break! x
