Face of the Day #1

I thought I'd do a quick face of the day while I have a bit of spare time this morning (er... it's afternoon now). I'd quite like to do more of these in the future! For now this is my standard everyday look for you... This is an extremely lovely lip tint which literally stays on all day which is why I love it. You can make it subtle like I have or amp up the colour. Anyway, this is also my favourite mascara ever I think, as it just does everything, length, darkness, intensity, volume. I'm not wearing any foundation, just merely concealer and powder as foundation is just way too thick and heavy for me lately.

On my face I'm wearing...

Concealer: Rimmel Wake Me Up in Ivory and Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection in 01
Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte
Mascara: Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express
Blush: NYC Mosiac Face Powder
Lips: Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Tint + Balm in 120 Timeless Tango

Comparing Concealers

I've found too great concealers and they are Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer and the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer. They are both great for two different purposes for what works best with my skin type, so let me explain how I use them and what the pros and cons are of each.
My skin can be pretty dry in some parts and a little oily in other areas, but I find it's becoming less oilier these days. My skin is also extremely blemish prone, and I especially enjoy the abundance of hormonal acne I receive all the time... don't we all? Besides having excruciatingly annoying skin most of the time, I try my best to get rid of it and for the meanwhile of course conceal them as best I can. Rimmel Wake Me Up is not a good concealer for blemishes. It is however amazing for under your eyes for adding a glow to your face. Definitely not high coverage, but a lightweight formula which may need some backing up with another heavier duty concealer. The colour is a little dark for my skin but it comes off fine if blended nicely. So Rimmel, get a broader skin tone range please!

The Collection Concealer has basically become a holy grail for me lately. Let's run through the positives: it's high coverage and literally covers anything, the colour match is perfect and it gives a nice finish on the skin. A negative could be that it is drying on dry skin, and can cling to dry patches, so you will need nicely moisturised skin. The most annoying blemishes can look obvious that I've concealed them with this by the end of the day. I found this to be a problem, so I used a thin base of Rimmel's more liquidy, slightly hydrating formula to counteract the dryness. I use the Collection Concealer under my eyes too for an extremely good coverage and around where I have any red or uneven skin. Tip: Don't drop your concealer on the floor because it will crack at the lid and concealer will ooze out of the gap every time you use it resulting in huge waste... After concealing I haven't been using any foundation at the minute because I just find it way too heavy on my skin. I think because I still go to high school, I don't need a lot of make-up on my face anyway.

Do you use/like these concealers, or what are YOUR favourite concealer(s)? I'd just love to know x

My Favourite Instagrams

One thing is for certain and that is I love instagram! I'm pretty sure I got addicted to it for a couple weeks where I would literally look through every single post in my feed from when I last saw it. That was in the summer holidays, when I had oodles of time, but now not so much. I still love looking through instagram posts every now and then and always manage to visit my favourite profiles frequently. Here are my favourite instagrams, filled with pretty pictures and amazing people.
First up is fromrosesxo, hosted by the lovely Rebecca. I adore her blog just as much as her instagram, full of adorable and pleasing images of her room (jealous), her cute pup Bella, many striped tees and of course,  delightful breakfasts and make-up bits. Her pictures certainly brighten up my feed!
Rebecca Sather is a pretty lucky girl. She shares her adventures of travelling in Europe with her parents on her instagram, but also documents some of the ordinary life around her too as well as her home country beauty (Australia). Oh to have visited the places she has! I can always count on a beautiful photo of fresh blooms or old travel pics to brighten my day and make me feel a certain kind of wanderlust. Psst, her flickr is pretty nice too.
You'll find design student Christie posting her latest little art and craft bits, nice spaces, her adventures in museums and art galleries, and you know you're always going to get a cute picture of her latest purchases as she has a niche for opshopping. I can't resist the photos of cute printed socks she posts as well as her adorable shoe collection. Couldn't be more envious of his girl as her feed is filled to the brim with all sorts; you'll soon find she has quite the talent in capturing her daily life.
Since Amanda Thomas is from my hometown in Auckland, New Zealand I always enjoy what she has to say or post. Her instagram is full of perfect and pretty photos documenting yummy treats she's eaten, her adorable outfits and places she happens to be in and around. Like all good 'grammers she has a signature pet (pets) which she likes to feature, this time it's Calvin and Harvey which are her guniea pigs. Let's not forget to mention her cat also. Nothing completes an instagram feed like a cute pet, right?

Beauty Wishlist

After watching countless beauty YouTubers and reading the blogs of many beauty lovers, it's fair to say that I've compiled a good amount of jealousy at how readily available products are overseas and it's so easy and cheap to pick up make-up. Living in New Zealand, it's really hard to get decent make-up I think. However, I recently found a bunch of websites that stock brands that I've wanted to try for ages, are based in New Zealand or ship to New Zealand (not for a huge price as well) thanks to Shaaanxo. It makes me happy that I can now buy cheap make-up online from trusted stores. So here's what's on my beauty wishlist...

First up is the most expensive but possibly the most exciting thing... it's the Anastasia Brow Whiz which I have heard so so so many good things about. I don't use brow products as my brows don't really need too much filling in, especially with school; but I want to start doing something about them as I think good brows can make your face look ten times better. This seems so nice, natural looking and easy to use so I'm happy to pay the big price tag if it works. Next up is the Balm Highlighter Mary-Lou Manzier. I think this will look so pretty as I'm a big fan of a bright, dewy look. I would like to try out at least one of the NYX Butter Glosses - Peach Cobbler was the one which caught my attention as I've heard amazing things about these glosses too. I've never been a fan of lip gloss but I think anyone who's tried these is converted straight away as they aren't sticky. From NYX I'd also like to their Cream Blush in Natural as I want something extremely pretty and natural looking for my cheeks. Last but not least I want to get a Sleek Palette! Oh So Special caught my attention as I liked the shades the most. I don't own an eyeshadow palette so I want to start with some pretty, natural shades and get experimenting!

One for Blondes

Let me start by saying I love any hair product that just makes your hair feel swishy, nourished, soft, sleek and smells nice. This Lush Hair Treatment, aptly named Marilyn is literally the answer to my prayers when I just want a good hair day. It's a mask type treatment you slather all over your hair while dry and leave it in your hair for a minimum of twenty minutes. Go ahead and leave it for a couple of hours though, the longer the better really! You then wash it out well to which your hair already feels amazing, then go ahead and shampoo and condition as normal and boy, you are going to have some super smooth glossy locks once dry.

This has been my go to luxury product for my hair of late. I'm falling in love with Lush products fast - and I haven't come across something I haven't liked. This product joins my list of must have Lush products. As for the 'lighter brighter' hair claim, I have to say I did notice a change after using it after just one go. It's not going to turn your hair blonde if you have darker locks obviously, but if you have naturally blonde or colour treated hair then it just works to protect your hair and brighten in colour. The only thing I would say is that you'll only get about four uses out of this pot if you have thick or long hair because you use more product up than you'd
think with one use. I reserve it for use about once every week and a half or fortnight. Now tell me, blondes, are you intrigued yet?

Peter Pan Collar

I've always wanted to be one of those girls who look effortlessly cute with a peter pan collar. I'm not sure if I succeeded with this, but I felt super comfortable and lovely this day. When it comes to outfit posts I'm not sure if anyone remotely cares but I'll proceed. How was your weekend? I went and bought my ball dress which I'm pretty much in love with. So glad that huge stress is off my chest. For now, could you suggest a good place to buy prom/ball/formal shoes from?
As for the outfit, I sort of forgot I owned this tan satchel from asos which I really adore! The cardigan and boots are two pieces I pretty much wear all the time. It's quite weird as I know many in the Northern Hemisphere would be sick of wearing tights if their climate requires it, but I'm excited to wear tights a lot this winter; if it wasn't for them I would be absolutely freezing my ass off at school. I just feel way more put together in winter, so let's celebrate, okay? Have a good week, I've got a boring school trip and two big assignments due this week. Lucky me.

Liebster Award

Hi! I was tagged by Miarara for the Liebster award tag which is designed to recognise people with less than 200 followers in the blogging world and learn a little more about them.

1. If you could have any phone what would you have? An iPhone 5S because I currently have the 4, and I like iPhones!
2. Would you rather have one M.A.C product or five Boots products in your make up bag? Five boots products, even though there isn't a Boots in New Zealand.
3. If you were an animal what would you be? The most obvious and cliche answer would have to be a cat, maybe because I could be quite like a cat in nature, sleeping and all that.
4. What is your favourite makeup brand? I was thinking about this the other day, but more for the classic 'if you had to only use one makeup brand for the rest of your life what would you use?'. I think I would say that Rimmel is my favourite makeup brand as I like their concealer, foundation, lipsticks, and I've heard their eyeshadows and blushes are good. It's an all rounder.
5. Vanilla or chocolate ice cream? I'll go for what I'd rather have right now, and that would be chocolate! But I've been known to like vanilla over chocolate.
6. What is your make up bag essential? Probably a good lipstick, whether it's an everyday minimal shade or a bright red on the odd occasion.
7. How much do you usually spend on a shopping haul? I don't tend to spend all my money in one go, I usually opt for the 'collective haul' so I can build up the things I've bought over weeks and not just in one day. I'd feel really guilty blowing it all at once.
8. If you could meet anyone in the world who would you meet? Ed Sheeran would be just lovely to meet. My sister met him recently, and let me tell you I was so, so jealous.
9. Would you rather be a celebrity or the paparazzi chasing them? If I had to pick, then it'd be a celebrity, although I'd like to be one of those celebrities that aren't so huge that they'd get recognised on the streets by everybody.
10. What is your favourite cheesy joke? Don't hold back on this one! Oh, I'm really bad at jokes so let's not even attempt to go there.
11. Do you usually get high end or drugstore makeup? Without a doubt drugstore, that's all my budget will allow.

My questions:
1. What's your favourite way to relax?
2. Would you rather have an abundance of cute stationery or a huge magazine collection?
3. What's your favourite cuisine?
4. What was the last best movie you saw and why was it so great?
5. If you had to have only three key pieces in your wardrobe what would they be?
6. What are your top three favourite products from Lush, or if you don't shop there, what are you top three favourite products from your favourite beauty type store?
7. If you could have one beauty product in your hand right now, what would it be?
8. What are you saving up for?
9. Where would your dream holiday destination be?
10. Would you rather be shopping in an air conditioned mall or being active outdoors?
11. What's the biggest dream of yours, maybe careers wise that you want to achieve?

Because I don't know many blogs that have less than 200 followers or I'm yet to discover any, comment below if you have less than 200 and I'll check out your blog and you can do the tag as well! x x

Currently Loving #1

I'm not sure how often I'll do one of these beauty round up posts because it's not like I get a million products to try a month, or have the budget that would allow me to go out on extravagant beauty hauls to try new things, but I thought why not in the current spontaneity state my blog is in, that I'd show you the beauty bits I've generally been loving lately.
I've absolutely fallen head over heels for the Lush Tea Tree Water as I've mentioned on the blog before. If you want a full review, click here but let me tell you this is fantastic stuff. I would probably go as far to say as I couldn't live with it? I just couldn't imagine not using it as it calms my skin right down. I really hope this lasts a bit because at this rate I may have to go and buy another.

Two concealers I've been loving are nothing new to you I'm sure; the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer and the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. They are quite different from one another I'd say, in many aspects so I'm thinking of doing a comparison post on them sometime next week probably. The Collection brand has recently become available to buy in New Zealand stores, so I hadn't used the Collection Concealer before this like I'm sure many of you in the beauty world would have. It's wonderful stuff! It literally hides anything and makes your skin look amazing. I feel comfortable just wearing this on my face and nothing else. The only thing I'd say is it could be slightly drying, but that's where Rimmel's Concealer comes in as it makes your skin look wonderful; dewy and radiant. It has a lighter coverage and is a touch too dark for my skin though. I'll talk about these two in full at a later date.

A hair product I've been liking is the V05 Refresh Me Quick Dry Shampoo. I had been using Batiste for quite a while but eventually found that it was just not for me. I cannot handle having my hair feel gross after using a hair product. It would make my hair dry and coarse, even in the look of it. I think that Batiste is good for banishing oil, but like I said; not for me. At the moment I prefer V05's Dry Shampoo as it is much lighter, smells better, doesn't leave a white mess if used lightly and makes my hair softer and glossier than Batiste. It's just pleasant to use, is good for second day hair but may not be as heavy duty as other dry shampoos. However, it suits my needs.

Marilyn, oh Marilyn. This stuff just makes your hair luscious - it's the Marilyn hair treatment from Lush. I am planning to do a full review on this in a while like I've mentioned before, but I look forward to using this SO much. You can smell it in your hair days after washing, it makes your hair so soft, manageable and brighter in colour for highlighted or colour treated hair. The staff at lush even raved about it when I went to purchase it. The only downside is that you use quite a lot if you have a decent amount of hair, so it's looking like this pot will get me about 4 uses. (Which is hard when you want to use it all the time, you have to cut it down to once a week or fortnight.) Lastly I've been liking the Maybelliene Volume Express Colossal Mascara. This makes your lashes dark, volumnised and quite lengthened without being too clumpy; it's an all rounder.

A Photography Adventure

Today I ventured outdoors in the morning (despite my internal protests of it being Saturday and wanting to sleep in after a hard week at school) to shoot with my friend for my school photography assignment. My overall theme is 'dreams'. Eventually, I'm going to be combining these photos with others I've taken to form something a little like this. I thought I might as well share some of the photos I've been editing this afternoon as this is my blog and I like sharing some of my photography every now and then.

I've been a little MIA this week, having posted only one measly wishlist. I don't really have any ideas on what to post at the moment or necessarily have the motivation. I think I'd like to post a few times a week rather than every day because when I write up posts spontaneously like this, I do enjoy it. I've got a couple exciting posts coming up anyway that I'll have to get around to doing. Have a good weekend and try to relax, okay? I'm going to try myself.

P.S I'm getting stressed trying to look for a formal/ball dress. Can anyone recommend me some sites?

A Wishlist

School's just started up again and I don't really have anything to post about and I have about as much motivation as a slug from the cold weather and busyness, so I've compiled a little wishlist for you all. Hopefully I'll be picking up these items one or two at a time in the near future so that I don't feel too guilty about spending money all in one go.
It's mostly beauty bits for some reason, but that's okay with me! I've been feeling really inspired to amp up my skin care routine and/or make-up routine. I've just bought my first concealer (I know, how did I live before?) - it's the Rimmel Wake me up Concealer and I really do love it! I heard that the *famous* Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer is now in New Zealand selling at Countdown so I think I'll be trying that one out next time I'm at a Countdown as everyone says it's amazing! The next thing is a bit of a cheat since I just purchased it online - the travel essentials kit from Real Techniques. I wanted to get a fluffy type brush for powder and blush and an eye-shadow brush, so I just decided to get this. It also comes with a foundation brush I already have so I'll be giving that to my sister.

Since I've been shopping recently (or more, browsing) and have gone into a few Body Shop's this Special Edition Blueberry Body Scrub caught my eye; I think Essiebutton has talked about this recently on her blog, and oh my god it looks and smells amazing in store! The other Body Shop item on my wishlist is the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil - once again this is a recommendation from a blogger, this time gh0stparties and she is basically the skincare queen so I think this is a good one! I also need a proper make-up remover instead of just cleanser so this is perfect. I have been absolutely loving Lush lately and realising that they have so many great products, so on my to buy list next is the Herbalism Facial Cleanser which a friend bought and I tried once and absolutely loved. Makes your skin soft and helps keep spots at bay while also being a gentle exfoliator. I also want to try the Dragon's Egg Bath Bomb from Lush as it smells divine and it's one of my friend's favourites.

Last but not least, this amazing bucket bag from Glassons - I've seen it in store (or something pretty similar) and really wanted to buy it. Maybe I'll use the 20% first time order discount and buy it online. I need a bag that will fit all my stuff, not just my phone, money and cards. That's it from me today, what is on your wishlist?
