July Playlist

This month's mix I've changed back to 8tracks which I used long long ago, but the annoying thing is it's difficult to search for the songs you want on there, they're all covers! Someone please invent a good music sharing site...

This month I've been all about the 80s (or more specifically the last couple of days). I don't know why, but my parents grew up in the 80s and I've grown up listening to it! I don't know about you but sometimes old music is just the best thing. I've thrown something a little more contemporary in there for good measure... Girls by 1975 and Edge by Haim, once again love those bands!

Tracklist

Foreigner / I Want to Know What Love Is
Haim / Edge
The Beach Boys / Don't Worry Baby
The 1975 / Girls
Lenny Kravitz / It Ain't Over 'til it's Over
Fleetwood Mac / Rhiannon
Fleetwood Mac / Dreams
Fleetwood Mac / Landslide
4 Non Blondes / What's Up

Interior design is one of my favourite things! I love going through tumblr, pinterest or blogs and finding inspiration for my own room. I did a room tour earlier this year, but since then that fresh feeling of a new room has faded a little and I really want to rejuvenate my room a little. I needed big spaces of time to do this, so I may look at doing a little something extra for my room before uni next year over the summer holidays once exams are over in December. This gives me a lot of time to think things through, gather inspiration and sort out what's realistic and what isn't. I'd absolutely love a new desk. Why doesn't New Zealand have an IKEA? Maybe I could make my own with wood with help from my Dad... last summer I remade my dressing table over so I'm hoping to have another project like that.

These are some images of what my DREAM bedroom would ideally look like. When I have my own place and can afford to, I am going to love designing my home! The first and last image here is from a girl called Chloe who I have been SO inspired by as of late. Her bedroom/desk area especially is to die for! She is only 15 and so talented and inspiring. I highly recommend checking out her blog. I love how she has collected all of these little things like cards from Kikki.K to hang off her shelves. I feel like the space surrounding me inspires me motivates me so much, so I am excited. Just if summer would hurry up so I don't have to hibernate in my room huddled up in a blanket!

Life Lately #4

10546532_325105910983170_192970818_n (1)
It feels like the holidays were an age ago but in fact it's only been a week since they ended. I didn't get up to much during my time off as I was working a lot and trying to catch up on sleep and homework, but last Saturday before school began I went out with one of my friends and we stumbled upon this cute cafe called The Shelf on High Street. Sitting in there I was thinking that I'm pretty sure I'd heard of it before. I'm glad we did go in as I'm sure I'll be back here at some point!

The decor was extremely cute and quirky, right up my alley. For brunch I ordered the french toast and a mocha to go alongside it, and I wasn't disappointed, it was pleasant and a really cool environment. I've heard the chicken and mushroom filo pastries are so yummy so I will have to go back and try them. As for cafes in Auckland central I don't know many but I would say this is one of my favourites already. I'd love to take my proper DLSR camera around at some stage and take photographs of things like these. It's just so bulky.

Apart from that day out, and having a well deserved shopping spree at Lush, (and not to mention the best iced tea at Hulu Cat) I've just been settling into the old school routine again, much to my dismay. Having some fresh fruit earlier in the week made me miss summer because fruit in winter is not the best at times. I cannot wait until it's strawberry season again! That's all I have to mention in this post, I have another week of school to look forward to (grudgingly try and survive and just get to the weekend).

Links I Love // Oreo Brownies, anyone? These look simply divine. I've got a new wallpaper for my laptop, I always find myself going for a new one every time I see one of these posts. And isn't this the cutest thing ever?

Lush Haul

IMG_4674
Apologies for the ghastly photo - winter lighting right?! On the weekend, my second to last day of freedom to be exact, I went out shopping with my mind set on picking up a few things from Lush I'd been after for a while. So read on to find out what I managed to get!

The first beautiful thing I got is the H'Suan Wen Hua (say that again three times fast) Hair Treatment, which has bananas, rosemary, balsamic vinegar and all sorts of nourishing and weird ingredients (that are all completely natural). I wanted to try out another one of their hair treatments as the first one I tried, Marilyn, was so so good! They're quite expensive but this one is a little cheaper and I have a feeling will last me longer. Compared to Marilyn this one's a lot thicker and seems to be doing a good job the first time I used it. I'll have to muster up a full review on this after I've used it a bit more.

Secondly I picked up a nice bath bomb as it's winter and I seriously have to restrain myself from taking a bath every single night because it's so cold! I love baths a lot, they make me feel so calm and relaxed just before hopping into bed. I've wanted to try out Dragon's Egg for absolutely ages, as every time I go into a Lush I pick up this bath bomb and the smell is absolutely wonderful. If you look citrus scents, you will adore this. I like getting the most out of mine, so I usually cut them in half. I used half last night and the smell is gorgeous, followed by soft skin - I can't complain! I think there could be popping candy in it too because something was popping in the water!

The Buffy Body Butter Bar is the last thing I picked up on recommendation from a friend. I've been thinking about buying a new Body Shop Body Butter because they are my favourite moisturisers but couldn't really justify the price at this stage even if they do last ages. I got this for a substitute, and works well for lazy moisturising after getting out of the bath or shower. In fact, you don't even have to get out of the shower - it's designed to be melted in the shower first and applied while you're still in there. It does leave you with nice skin, however the almond bits in the bar aren't my favourite as it's a tad harsh. I know it's meant for exfoliating, I think I'll have to get the hang of using it. It is a little inconvenient as it doesn't come with any long wearing container to keep it in, but I do know you can purchase those so I may need to do so in the future.

I adore Lush and can't wait to buy even more when I get the chance.

Currently Loving #3

IMG_4650
Back in the old days of my blog (okay only December last year) I did these posts where I basically layed out everything I'd bought, been loving or simply looked nice with the other collection of items and I took photographs of it. I love collecting these items together to talk about what I've been loving lately and love these kind of posts from other bloggers too.

One of the first things is the Lush Tea Tree Toner Water which I've just repurchased in fear of running out of my first one. I could just buy about a gazillion things from there. One of the things I've been loving and getting back into is doing a bit of painting, messing around and getting more creative. I find it a real struggle to do art things for school sometimes when I feel like I'm just forcing it and not creating something I'm happy with. Ideally I would have wanted to do a lot more these holidays, but I'm getting back into it. Frankie Magazine is sure to inspire me though, but would you believe it I probably got this magazine a few weeks ago and I haven't had a chance to read any of it. I just finished off the latest Yen in the tub last night, so I'm going to get into this asap before school starts. Such a pretty cover!

Another thing I've been trying to get back into is reading. I love reading. When I was younger I could read a book in a day. I used to get tons out from the library! My love for reading is sadly put on hold because of school work. I have a list of books I actually want to buy (physically own) and read. When will I ever get the time though? This summer reading books is literally going to be where it's at for me. I found this awesome (new to me) site called bookdepository.com, where there is pretty much every book you could ever want with different covers and either paperback/hardback for so much cheaper than you would get them in normal book stores. So stoked about this as I'm going to order a couple of books soon. This site is where one of new favourite YouTubers (or book tuber) Sanne a.k.a. booksandquills purchases her books from. I could watch her videos all day every day, it's actually refreshing when I can watch a YouTuber who has a great head on her shoulders and talks about something different for a change (books!) rather than beauty, fashion, etc (but hey - I will still definitely be watching those as well!)

The book above, An Abundance of Katherines by John Green is not what I have been reading, I just chucked it in the photo because I would really like to reread some of the books I have at some stage. I infact pretty much hated this book if I'm being honest, but willing to reread books and give them another chance - (however sometimes if I just can't stand a book and find it really difficult to read, I will just not read it, because let's face it, life is way to short for that).

Cutouts

Outfit and Make-up Details:
Dress: Glassons
Shoes: Mirrou
Lipstick: Bourjois Rogue Edition in Peche Cosy
Blush: e.l.f Studio Blush in Candid Coral
Eyeliner: e.l.f liquid eyeliner and I also used Maybelline Master Precise eyeliner

This is my 100th post! It's currently the last week of the school holidays and I have to say it's much better than the first - I've been reminding myself that it's okay to have me time and relax as well as do stuff I enjoy while making the best out of bad situations because I need to enjoy the time I have off. Today was one of  the better days weather wise we've had for a couple of weeks and it's making me excited for summer! (I've just got to survive the second half of winter).

On Sunday I wore this dress with two cut-outs on the back, something I think is quite unique because I haven't seen a dress like this before. I paired this easy to wear dress with peachy simple make-up with my favourite winged eyeliner (by the way does anyone else feel 3794 times better when they are wearing winged eyeliner?) and some cute black sandals I haven't had the chance to wear for a while. It wasn't really all that warm though so let's just say after taking these photos I had to put some more layers on. I also made a bit of an effort with my hair as it's actually getting long enough for me to plait it to almost the end without all the layers poking through. Hooray for long hair! This outfit and make-up made me feel all summery and even though I didn't have anywhere to go, it just felt nice getting ready like this and enjoying time off at home.

A Wishlist

Today I thought to myself excitedly, 'let's make a wishlist!' because now that I actually have a job and I'm earning my own money, I can afford to buy some things I've been wanting for ages. If these holidays are going to be good for anything, that is going to be earning money. So let's get on to it!
Untitled-1
The first thing I've got my eye on is one of these gorgeous looking crystal necklaces, I especially love the purple one. I've seen these around a lot and I think it's about time I got one! Lush is always on the forefront of my mind when it comes to what I want to spend my money on. I've got to say it's one of my favourite shops. If I could have everything from there, I gladly would. But two hair products I like the look of are firstly the H'Suan Wen Hua hair treatment. I've tried one of their treatments before (Marilyn) and it's just been divine. This one is cheaper and one of their best selling hair products. The second is something I never thought I'd try which is Trichomania - essentially it's a solid shampoo that will apparently nourish and soften. It sounds absolutely divine with coconut and other good ingredients in it. It looks like it would last a long time too because you use very little when it's in solid form.

Past Lush, I have been eyeing up a few items from good ol' asos, namely three from Monki which I adore as a brand (and am yet to own a single thing from) but these items are surprisingly cheap (and on sale). The first is a cozy looking oversized jumper which has my name written all over it. It's longer than a typical jumper and is in a creamy white colour. The second item is a cute little skater skirt with polka dots on. Enough said. Lastly we have a gorgeous little dainty gold arrow necklace which is right up my street. I need to wear more jewellery! Recently I've been loving some things from Misguided and the prices are pretty reasonable and it's free shipping to New Zealand. I like the look of this gingham print dress and feel like I need it in my life right now. Surprise surprise here's another dress for you - a typical Emma dress which is in a swing style with stripes all over, perfect for winter.

Life Lately #3

10523510_1436215859994916_2087571407_n
First things first... welcome to the new blog. It's really exactly the same but with a little makeover (I procrastinate SO much, spending a good couple hours sorting out stuff for the blog rather than doing urgent holiday homework) and a new name. Like many bloggers before I've just had the urge to name my blog something different, something a bit more quirky and original. I've decided to go with Little Lunar, meaning little moon - something that fleetingly popped into my head. I'm a person who needs change in order to feel my best (some of the time, not) - I love fresh starts. At the moment because I've changed my url I'm having bloglovin' problems as the blog I've got on there is with my old url, but I've contacted them so hopefully I'll be able to keep my followers. There is also a problem with the comments as I had been using the commenting service Disqus and I've uninstalled the app so all of the comments are basically gone. Sorry if you've commented because it won't be there anymore - I'll be sticking to the plain blogger commenting system for now.

Moving onto what's happening in my life (which is pretty boring most of the time truthfully). This week has been the first week of the school holidays. I don't think I've really been spending my time wisely, procrastinating hugely and not doing a great deal about it. One good thing this week is that I've started working. Yes, I have my first job! It feels awesome to be earning some money, and I seriously can't wait until I get my first pay. I've been feeling rather busy and tired, and I'm working another 3 days next week, so it probably won't change all too much. I'm going to try and relax during this second week though because I really need to do that before school starts again otherwise I am going to be a walking zombie. That starts with not waking up too late, because I've been waking up at 12.30 the days I don't have work (I'm a disgrace, I know - but a 'typical' teenager nevertheless) and I don't want to wake up too early either because let's face it, I need my sleep. The area where I work is quite far from home so I've been enjoying an hour and a half bus ride there (read: not really enjoying) but the upside is that there's a lovely beach a 2 minute walk as well as a mall so I've been enjoying my hour lunch breaks. As mentioned in my last post I went out shopping today and had a really good time, a highlight being spotting this freaking amazing cactus candle (what?!) and enjoying a peach iced tea at Hulucat.

Outfit Details:
Top - Dotti
Jeans - Glassons
Shoes - Number One Shoes
Lipstick - Rimmel Kate in 01

Today I went into town and had some much needed retail therapy! First we went opshopping (with no luck, although my sister got the cutest shorts). We then went to all the usual stores and had tea at Hulu Cat! If you're in Auckland and you've never been, you have to - it's the best. I bought something from Lush and got a free sample of shower gel, so I'm happy! I bought the jeans that I'm wearing for sale at Glassons as I was in desperate need of a new pair, they were cheap and I know I will get so much wear out of them. I love that they are slightly high waisted and have nice detailing of the zips on the legs and top. The very top of them is covered by the shirt I'm wearing but it is like a fake leather belt look which sounds really ugly but is nice.

I'm also wearing the other item I bought which is a top from Dotti. They were having a pop up sale, and wanted about a billion things but decided to get this cute cropped shirt which I'm in love with. The material is not flimsy at all and is quite thick so it's good for winter layered with a coat or jacket. The shoes I'm wearing are my sisters but she doesn't mind, and I think they suit the outfit. I decided to wear a red lip with this outfit as it pretty much goes perfectly. You won't see a close up of it though because applying lipstick is not one of my greatest talents, I end up looking like Miranda Sings.

Winter Blogging Blues

post1
I feel as though I am so much less motivated when it comes to cold weather and winter time. Photographs for my blog become less easier to take because of limited sunlight and dark mornings, outfit photos become a bother, school seems to become so much more stressful, and all in all I don't exactly feel like blogging because I'm so unmotivated. Sorry to impose a load of negativity on your Wednesday night (or whatever depending on where you are and when your reading this), I just feel like it's necessary to say this as I hate looking at my blog and want to feel excited about it, but I just can't at the moment.

To be honest I loved blogging when I first started it, and I didn't try so hard to fit into the standards of what everyone else was doing, but comparison takes over and eventually it just all heads in one kind of direction. I don't have any plan for this post whatsoever but what I'm basically trying to say is that I'm only going to blog if I genuinely want to, whether that be once a month. Some of my favourite blogs post pretty rarely. When it comes to this time of the year I am missing summer badly, but complain of the heat and sun in summer. Typical.

It's the school holidays for me now, and unfortunately I'm working for most of it (hey, money!) and most likely will be trying to cram in doing the load of homework I've been given for the rest of the time. I feel like I always want my two weeks of holiday to be amazing and relaxing, without a worry in the world, but it never turns out like that. I have so many things I'm worrying about at the moment, I feel like I can't enjoy my time off school. This has began to form into a diary entry or something, so I will leave it here.

Here's to blogging how you want to blog and accepting that it's okay to not blog for a while.

June Playlist

tumblr_mfbewwQg7d1rxckzmo1_500
Hey everyone, I've been quite busy since it's the last week of term. I seriously cannot wait until it's the holidays! Here is my playlist for June.

The New Lobby Boy - Alexandre Desplat/The Grand Budapest Hotel  (can't find on YouTube)

You're going to have to excuse me for including so much from Ed Sheeran's new album Multiply but it's so good it's about the only thing I've been listening to lately. I'm weird like that, I basically listen to the same album/songs over and over again for a good month. So the songs featured are this month are my very favourites and the ones I just want to listen to again and again. To be honest I may as well just list every single song because I love them all. Apart from Ed Sheeran I've been getting into Ellie Goulding. I've never been much of a fan but I guess you can say I am now! She has a great voice and her songs are so upbeat and (ahem) great to sing really loud to in your bedroom. I have also been listening to a bit of the Grand Budapest Soundtrack which is actually my favourite movie. JUST GO SEE IT. I'm not sure some people would appreciate it as much as I do though. The songs just remind me of the movie and are nice to listen to in the background while you're doing something else.

Have a great July! xx
